If you use your generator to power a crock pot while traveling, that is a very expensive meal. An efficient diesel generator at very light loads may use as little as 1/3 gallon per hour. At $4 per gallon for nine hours, you're looking at $12 for just the power. And that's for a very efficient generator. More likely, it would be about 1/2 gallon of fuel per hour, so $16 for running the CP 8 hours. For that, you can get a rotisserie chicken and salad for 8 people!
