We like BBQ steak so when we're grilling, we will cook several extras just until they are about rare, then remove, cool, wrap & freeze. When on the road, it's easy to pull a couple out so that they're defrosted by the time we arrive at our destination: a couple of minutes in the micro finishes the cooking process and does not diminish the BBQ flavor.
Over time I discovered that I could cool off the RV fridge/freezer the day before we left so that on day of departure, I could pack the fridge and freezer with frozen food that we'd use during the week and by week's end, most of the defrosted food was either eaten or returned to freezer before it completely defrosted.
