New England Baked Beans
2 Large cans B&M baked beans. (If you can't find B&M, Bush's might be OK, but avoid any beans with tomato products in them)
1 large onion, diced small
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup your favorite mustard (I like Woeber's or Jack Daniels)
1/3 cup Jack Daniels
1 tsp liquid smoke (unless of course you're smoking them)
Put molasses and onion in microwave safe bowl and nuke for a few minutes on half power until onions are soft. Add sugar, mustard, JD, smoke, and stir. Heat thru. Put beans in baking dish, stir in "sauce". BAke at 300 for several hours, stirring occasionally.
Options:
add a can of drained crushed pineapple
or
add a package of lil smokies or diced kielbasa
or
add diced bacon to top an hour before removing from oven, turn on to broil for the last few minutes if you need to crisp it.
This also works in a crock pot or a dutch oven.
