There is NO consensus on when to salt beans.
You can salt them when soaking overnight
You can salt them when cooking
You can salt them after cooking
I don't soak overnight....I just cook them.
When they 'start' to smell like beans (vs smelly sock water) is when I add salt.
About 3/4 way thru cooking
