  • Herself and myself often had that pie on our Big Boy dates. Great memories.
  • You've got to find some nice fresh summer strawberries, not these tasteless half-white rocks we see at this time of year!
  • When I was a kid, Mom used to take the elderly lady from next door shopping every couple of weeks. We always ate curb side at Shoney's and she always bought everyone in the car a slice of strawberry pie. 15 or so years ago, I was going to what would be her final birthday party and I drove about 2 hours to the nearest Shoney's that had a full pie. I bought it and took it to the party. She was thrilled and I would happy to see the smile on her face. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Around these parts it was Shoney's Big Boy and the strawberry pie was really good. They are all but extinct now compared to how many of them used to be around. The original recipe called for 7-UP instead of water.

Huh, I will have to try it with 7-up. Thanks

Plenty of Shoney's here in Tennessee and even Missouri. :W

They're thinning here, not sure why, but I know of 3 sitting empty. None of the 3 are in areas with any real competition.
  • There is a local eatery (Strawn's) that makes and sells strawberry pie just like the ones pictured. They put about 3 inches of topping on them. They are great!!!
