There are options for that. A lid rack will hold the bottom off of the coals, or 1/2 black pipe connectors from a home store will work well, needs 3.
For the lid, you can turn it over, but it's hard to check the food. The best options are either a ring cut from a #10 can, the big restaurant cans, or a shallow ring from AL foil. Basically with the foil just tear a slot for the handle to stick through and then roll up the sides to form a bowl for the coals.
