Campfire Pizza!

Just got this idea from some friends a few weeks ago. It has been a big hit with our kids and the people we camp with. Just figured I would share it here with everyone else.


Soft shell tortilla(crust)
pizza sauce in a jar or squeeze bottle(way easier)
Shredded Cheeze
Pepperoni
Canned sliced olives
Canned sliced mushrooms
any other toppings you like...onion, sausage(premake), etc...

Very easy...put sauce on shell, add cheese and toppings, place on tripod and cook until cheese just melts. Turns out to be an excellent crispy thin crust pizza!:D

Kids can put together their own, just have an adult do the cooking.

  • Been doing for years on a Cobb and grill sometimes..Started off using flat bread, but over the last several years mainly using the 10" burrito style flour tortillas..We do use the soft taco style, just too small..Our norm is pizza sauce, pepperoni, breakfast sausage and pizza cheese..Takes about 6 minutes each and can cook lots on 9 coals..

  • We do this even at home. It works well in a grill, just don't leave it long. We also give our tortilla a head start and use room temp toppings, except the cheese and we've found that helps.
  • If you shop around, you can find thin crust shells at various stores (I scored some at Big Lots for $ 1.00) each in vacumn packed bags. We do this on the tripod and use a large metal strainer upside down for a "convection oven" and it works great. Lots of fun and NO mess.
