Cicadas
Brood of 17 year Cicadas hitting most of the eastern states this year. Ten or twelve years ago we had three different broods at onetime or overlapping. Back then there was talk of eating the things....

Those small four and corn mills are just about all tourist sites now.
When we find one if not too expensive we buy there. Flour and every thing else is best when fresh. Some on shelves have expired dates and if still dated as expired,maybe be months old. Eat corn bread, bread or biscuits made with fresh grains and see what the receipts in the old Cookbooks taste like.
I have to chime in. I love seeing this word used this way, and it tells me a lot about you. :-)
My guess is that you're from SC or GA, likely somewhere near the coast.
