I must be the only one without this problem. I don't have cooking grease. It does sound like a clever way to start the evening fire,, with a wonderful scent.
I recycle potpourri tart wax for that. I take a cardboard egg carton, fill the indentations with either accumulated dryer lint or clean wood shavings from the barn supply, and pour the melted wax in each indent. Close the lid. Cool. Voila, fire log. You can actually produce larger quantities by buying paraffin wax blocks. Dixie cups work, too, for small starters.
