Cost of beef

Giving up beef would be hard for me. There is other red meat that is very cheap or free.

Not so, the state will see us doing this for free, they will have an emergency session and require us to buy a hunting license.

I was thinking that the possible upside could be that I'd lose weight but I have a pudgy vegetarian in my office so that might not be the silver lining I was looking for.

I hear you, Dave. No such thing as a 'cheap' cut. In other countries they've been eating insects for protein. It's going to be a challenge to smoke crickets!

I tried smoking crickets, but couldn't keep them lit. :B

I used to shoot groundhogs for my Uncle Charlie who would field dress them and soak them overnight in brine. The next morning, Aunt Gertie would stuff them with bread stuffing and roast them for Sunday dinner. Both asked me once if I knew what groundhogs eat and what chickens eat. Look that up and you might change your mind about chicken!

Sams club has a day where you go in at 8:00 am and they mark down all the meat that is going to expire that day. You can pick up crown roast filet Mignon, all types of fish, lobster, you name it, for like 80% discount!!

Winn Dixie here in the south puts a red sticker on all the meat that is going to expire and it's usually 50% off.

So you can still find deals on meat. Those expiration dates on the label are 'suggested' dates. Nothing wrong with the meat. I pay around an average of 75% off all the meat I purchase this way. Throw what I don't cook in the freezer.

We are just working our way south and of course we can take no meat across the border. We were shocked at the prices. More expensive than in Alberta for sure, especially when you figure in the exchange. Worth it tho if you factor in the Air temp in Az vs Ab.

Come to Amish country in Ohio. Put a freezer in the rv and stock up. Prices have only gone up slightly.

Put the corn back into feed and not ethanol.Use the glut of cheap and surplus oil,stop importing oil from off shore,use North american resources.
