What are you slicing to cause that to happen? I know what you are talking about, but I've never personally had anything slip down through the gap since the edges of the discs have a raised edge to prevent this from happening. I just did a big head of cabbage for coleslaw last night and ripped through the entire head in about 15 seconds. Occasionally when slicing potatoes with the slicing blade, I will be left with a larger chunk of potato spinning around on the top of the blade, but the next potato going through seems to catch it ok.

We have the Cuisinart Elite and love it. It's actually a 12 cup but has a smaller 4 cup working bowl so it is very flexible for larger and smaller tasks. One of the main features that drew us to this model was the sealed buttons. There will always be sticky, greasy fingers and small spills and spatters in the kitchen when you are cooking and it's nice to be able to give the buttons a quick wipedown without worrying about the buttons getting contaminated with food and malfunctioning over time.

We had that problem so we remodeled our kitchen and added about 50% more storage and counter space. Now I can't find anything?

I have an Oster Kitchen Center with different attachments (mixer, blender, food processor, salad maker, grinder / pasta maker, ice cream freezer) for my house. I have another with just the mixer, blender, and ice cream maker in the camper. I like that I can change the top part and have multiple appliances without all the space required.

I've been very happy with the Ninja Master Prep. Different size jars allow it to do the job of a blender and a food processor.Ninja

Few people have a well designed kitchen to allow all the useful tools to stay out. I think that is why most don't use them. In order to have my food processor in a handy spot, it means one of my other great tools are stuffed back in a corner behind a bunch of pots and pans. I would love a hanging pan rack and a walk-in tool storage area for the kitchen aide mixer, commercial knife sharpener.... and all the other stuff that never gets used just like the folks that have chosen the food processor to be in the back.

I don't think they make ours anymore, but it's a GE and it does a great job.
Just a hint, blenders and food processors are unique in the appliance world because they are primarily all about motors. Mixer have the added dependance on gearing, but the other two simply spin blades. As a rule of thumb, a good long lasting motor will be heavy. I would give a lot of weight, pun intended, to the weight of the unit I was interested in. There is no way around the weight factor.
