What are you slicing to cause that to happen? I know what you are talking about, but I've never personally had anything slip down through the gap since the edges of the discs have a raised edge to prevent this from happening. I just did a big head of cabbage for coleslaw last night and ripped through the entire head in about 15 seconds. Occasionally when slicing potatoes with the slicing blade, I will be left with a larger chunk of potato spinning around on the top of the blade, but the next potato going through seems to catch it ok.
