Food Processor

I'm researching food processors. Does anyone have one in their RV and if so which one and what do you like/dislike about it? Here's what I am looking for:
--easy to clean
--shreds cheese and veggies like carrots
--slices veggies
--will make nut butters and hummus dips
  • From our favorite store

  • I have a 9 cup Cuisinart. Used it yesterday while cooking dinner. Sometimes you just need a powerful food processor to do the job. I have had a Kitchen Aid in the past but think the Cuisinart is a better product.

While this one is not cheap, it is powerful, and is a multi-task tool.
    DW loves it

currently out of stock. not known when/if it will be available. I bought a similar one, some other manufacturer for $20 or so IIRC.

  • I bought a $19.95 jobby at walmart. two different types of blades, two different sized containers. not designed for commercial use however.

  • for small spaces I had a mini cuisinart. I actually found it at Home Depot, one of those unadvertised sales- a huge crate of them for $29.
I sent it to college with my daughter and bought myself the largest most powerful Cuisinart since I'm a serious home cook and DIY just about everything. I like it fairly well, especially the waterproof gasket and three different size containers, but what I hate about it is that there's a big gap between the disks and the side of the container and stuff like carrots don't get fully shredded or sliced and slide thru the gap. You have to sort out the stuff in the bowl and remove the big hunks.
Next time around I'll check out a KitchenAid instead.
And I'll admit I'm an appliance snob, I tend to read reviews carefully and stick to the highest performance marks vs price. I don't mind spending more if I get superior performance and longevity. Unfortunately there were no reviews that indicated the gap issue with the Cuisinart. And my little Cuisinart didn't have that problem. And it had PLENTY of power.
  • Mine isn't the same brand as Paul's but I swear by the manual powered over the tiny electrics. They just don't have enough power.
  • I use the one I inherited from my mother.

    Cordless and no batteries required.

Great for boondocking when power budget is a priority.
