Grandpa had a toast concoction each morning he taught me how to build. Toast in a bowl, butter (real, is there any other kind?) cover liberally with white sugar and pour cream (not half and half, real cream from the top of the bottle)over all and eat. Usually had two helpings a piece!
I remember something like that, but I think the topping was milk, but I could be wrong.
