Grills propane quick connects..

I've been looking for a Grill that will connect to the quick connect system on my RV, but I'm not really sold on any of the low pressure grills. I found the articles about taking the regulator off the Weber Q series grills and putting a quick connect on it ..

I started looking around online for the parts and saw there's 1/4", 3/8".. the article I was reading was calling for a 1/8" MNPT fitting.. I'll be honest, I have no idea what those sizes are referring to.. are those internal diameter or external diameter..

I guess the bottom line question I have is, how do I know that if I buy a fitting, it will fit the quick connect? what size hose do I need? are they standard sizes and just the internal diameter varies.. or does the outside diameter vary as well.. and if so, how do I determine what size I need?

btw, I have a 2013 Dutchment Rubicon 2900..

Sorry if this has already been discussed.. I searched but didn't come up with any answers.. if it has and you can point me to the correct place, I'd appreciate it..

Simple job on a Weber. I removed the regulator on my Weber Q to hook to my new trailer's quick connect.

There is some disagreement on whether or not you need to remove the regulator, some report a low flame with the regulator on an other say it works fine. I went ahead and removed mine, you can unscrew it with your hand. Here's how I did mine with a parts list:

Simple 10 or 15 minute job once you get all the parts rounded up.
