Heavenly Southern Buttermilk Pie

Unbelievably good tasting.
And no time consuming blind baking the crust.
Takes 5 minutes to put together. My kind of baking!:C

SOUTHERN BUTTERMILK PIE:
1/2c buttermilk
1 3/4c sugar
2 large eggs
3 tbsp flour
pinch of salt
1 stick butter melted
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp nutmeg
Preheat oven to 400°.
Mix everything together and pour into an unbaked 9" pies hell. Sprinkle the top lightly with nutmeg.
Bake 15 min. Reduce oven to 350° and bake 45 min.
Cool to allow filling to set.

. That's not original to the pie.

    Thanks for the tip! :C

Adding that to the top struck me as odd because nutmeg has a pretty bitter taste.
  • I grew up on my mother's authentic buttermilk pie. Make sure you leave out the nutmeg. That's not original to the pie.
  • That looks good, even I could make it and I don't bake.
  • That looks good! I think I'll try to make one in the next few days.
  • My My. That looks great. I will need to share this with my wife.. Not much of a cook myself but now I'm hungry.
