We were just talking this morning about a friend in Washington, DC years ago who invited us to what turned out to be a great Southwestern dinner. She had made her own red and green chile sauces and bought rich triple creme Mexican queso that I'd never had before. She wasn't Hispanic but somewhere along the line had learned the ropes.
We've been in northern NM lately and had great eats. The Hispanic section of the Espanola Walmart Superstore was awesome. Cheap, too. Think I'll get a local cookbook and give it a whirl.
