How to make Caramel in a Can

After spending several months in Argentina, my wife used to make Dulce de Leche from condensed milk by boiling an unopened can in a pan of water. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT let the pan boil dry after you go to bed. It makes lots of noise, and it will become adhered to walls, floor, and ceiling in a way that makes Gorilla Glue seem like wheat paste.

In Argentina, there are restaurants that serve only Dulce de Leche and small croissants, Medialunas. It is a magnificent combination.
