Induction Cooking

I'm interested in the NuWave induction cooker. I'm told if a magnet doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan it won't work. I have an expensive set of the Emeril Stainless Steel cookware. A magnet will not stick to the bottom. So would it be a waste of money to buy an induction cooker? :h

  • My cookware has no symbols on them at all. They are only stamped with Emeril on the handle. It is a very nice cookware set. They have no non stick coatings on them, but nothing sticks and very easy clean up. A thick and solid bottom so I get good even heating. I guess no induction cooking in my near future.
  • Sez Hoo, You are correct. If a magnet doesn't stick to the bottom it will not work on an induction burner. I took a magnet with me when shopping for cookware. Some cookware does have the symbol on the bottom but cast iron does not and it works great on induction.

magnet test is one way, but most pans, esp steel (stainless) have a COPPER clad core, which works with the induction cooker as well.

Are you sure that copper clad core will work ???? . . :h

Bumpy's right too, magic symbol, pan should have some waves / circles stamped in it

  • I thought that the proper cookware for these had some "magic" symbol on them.
