I have been unsuccessfully looking for a recipe for these awesome cookies for years. Anytime we are anywhere near Cedar Rapids, IA we hop over to the Amana Colonies and get these at a bakery there. My husband loves them and I have been looking for a recipe so I can make them for him. They are chocolate cake type cookies with nuts and dates with a layer of chocolate icing on top. i would appreciate it if someone out there has a recipe for these!!

Try a Google search for `brown betty cookie recipe' and take your pick. The audience for Google is far larger than this Forum so I usually go there first.

Them cookie doughs in a plastic tube are really good in case anyone wants a quick shortcut away from to much preparation. You can even add pieces of chocolate or bits of Kraft caramel into the dough.They can be found in your markets cooler area, near the cinnamon buns in the cardboard tube.If my grandmother heard me say that she would drag me by my ear:p

I tried Google, no luck. His grandmother called them Lucy Brown cookies. Thanks for the help!!

The Brown Betty recipe I'm familiar with isn't a cookie. I Bing searched chocolate date and nut cookies and found this one
