Omelet In A Bag

This is great for doing breakfast for a group of people. Assemble an assortment of things to be put in an omelet i.e. tomatoes, cheese, onions, ham, mushrooms. Get some brand name quart size freezer bags. Have a sharpe available so people can put there names on their bag. Crack and scramble the appropriate amount of eggs. In the ziploc bag add 1/2 cup of egg mixture(more egg for a larger omelet), add any of the fixins you want in your omelet. Close the bag thoroughly and place it in a pot of boiling water. A good size lobster pot works best. In about 8-10 min you'll have the perfect omelet. 8-10 min seems like a long time but if you are having a breakfast gathering or camping in a group this allows for socializing while breakfast is being cooked. :B

  • We do this several times in the summer camping trips--always taste different each time. Make sure the water is boiling. Works like a charm.
  • They do have bags just for this purpose. A little more expensive, but safe for your food and food consumption.
  • Some bag are not meant for cooking. The chemicals in the plastic bags can contaminate the food.
  • Make sure you use a top quality plastic bag with the double lock the best or it will melt in the boiling water!!
