Hi,
It is important to know how hot the water gets. If it doesn't do 160 f then it is unsafe to cook in the pot. This is somewhat voltage dependent. So do use a candy thermometer before you try cooking in your pot.
Mine is safe, and I do "coffee pot" eggs as I trundle down the road.
Place an egg in the pot--then make coffee. It takes about 35 to 45 minutes for a hard boiled egg. I've not had much success doing a soft boiled egg.
Be sure to clean the egg(s) before placing them in the pot.
The nice thing is that I end up with both coffee and eggs!
