Please share your favorite blueberry recipes. :)

A wonderful friend gave me 3 lbs. of fresh picked blueberries and I would love some recipes and serving ideas. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Dessert or snack. Please share your favorites. We're about to leave for a four day camping trip with a large group of friends, so recipes for a crowd would be fun, too. Not much of a canner, but otherwise, pretty much anything goes. Can't wait to eat them. Thanks!

  • Lemon and blueberries are such a good go together.

I made a compote with blueberries, sugar and lemon zest earlier in the summer. Works nice for shortcakes, over ice cream, yogurt, pancakes, in smoothies, and as a side dish for grilled pork chops with the addition of some grilled onions and sage.
  • Last summer we picked wild blueberries in northern Ontario. We picked over 25quarts. We froze them in the TT. There is nothing better than wild blueberries. Simple uses have been
.....In muffins exchange choc chips for blueberries
.....Add blueberries to waffles or pancakes
    .....Smoothies
.....blueberries on a fruit and cheese pizza...mmmm!
.....Throw a handful or two ito a basic cake recipes. I toss them with a bit of flour first so they don't all go to the bottom of cake.
    .....mix in yogurt
.....of course blueberry pie. I just boil up a few and add some thickening then the rest of berries. Into unbaked pie shell.
.....Pillsbury turnovers, put in a few blueberries before you shape them.

There are hundreds of ways to eat them. My favourite is right by the handful, fresh!
  • Spread them out on a large cookie sheet and place in the freezer for about 30 minutes. Take them out and place in zip lock bags now you can have fresh frosen berries any time you want. Personally i use them for smoothies. Wonderful cool refreshing drink on a hot day.
  • I just sprinkle them on my morning cereal. Try for one blueberry per bite to spread the joy.
