Ringer chain mail cast iron pot cleaner

Back in the 1950's the Navy ordered thousands of these for scrubbing out their big steam kettles.
In the early 1980's they surplussed them out (and yes I bought a bunch of them)

Nothing I would use on Teflon!

What are you supposed to DO with it?

I've used "castarn" all my life, and the cleaning method taught to me by my Mother is chore boy scrub using gentle soapy water followed by a rinse. If stuff is stuck, put a little water in the pan, boil, turn off heat, cover and let sit awhile.

Then back to the soapy water etc.
