Super Easy Sloppy Joe

1 lb ground beef
I chopped med onion
1 diced green pepper
1 cup ketchup

In a fry pan cook beef opinion and peppers. Add ketchup cook another5 min
There you have it great tasting sloppy Joes
Just top a few buns with it
  • yeah, I use ground beef with onions, ketchup, a splash of yellow mustard and brown sugar. The commercially made BBQ sauces leave me with heartburn, but the homemade stuff is great. I sometimes do 5 lbs of ground beef, make it into sloppy joes, then freeze in small packs and use it for road food. Better than just a cold sandwich.

  • I use ketchup and Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce. More ketchup than bbq and have had a lot of compliments on it.
  • Yeah me neither my mom, always made it homemade did they have it in a can in the 50/60$ hahahaha
My mom even made homemade salami and home made scrapple as well as all breads were fresh baked and rolls all desserts were from scratch she even made her own pasta canned veggies made beef jerky home made sausage she would get 1/2 steer and full pig twice a yr and had it stored in the freezer
The hardest part about being a kid in the 60s was in the winter I had to stoke the furnace and I still hate coal,to this day hahahaja
  • sauce for me is mainly ketchup with a squirt of yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder and brown sugar.
  • Similar to what I grew up with that my mom made but with a little added kick..

    Ground beef
    chopped onion
Salt, pepper, garlic powder (to taste)

Brown beef with onion until meat is fully brown and the onions are tender.

Once meat and onions are done, pour off extra grease then add ketchup and yellow mustard (4 parts ketchup to one part mustard), set to medium heat while mixing in the ketchup and mustard, serve when hot..

Never knew that some folks got their "sloppy Joe" out of a can when I was a kid.
