Sweet Potato Soup

I purchased some tetra packs of Sweet Potato Soup and found the taste to be v.g. I would like to serve some to guests and am wondering how I can dress it up a little - all I thought of was a sprinkle of parsley or basil.
Any other suggestions? Is there something I could add to make it appear home-made. I am not a great cook!

or a dollop of plain yogurt:).

Since I don't know what seasonings are already in the soup, I'll suggest thyme as an herb that always works nicely with sweet potato. To get maximum flavor out of dry thyme in a pre made soup, bring to a boil about 1/4 cup of water with the thyme, then reduce to a simmer for about 2-3 minutes. Then if you want the extra step, strain the thyme water and add the water to the soup. Of course you could always just sprinkle the thyme into the soup when heating it up.

To make it more home made you can also boil one fresh sweet potato and then cut it in cubes to place in the soup. Or carrot slices or some corn kernels. Or toast a piece of bread then rub it w/ a peeled garlic clove, sprinkle a bit of olive oil and dried thyme on it, cut it into cubes and place a top the soup bowls.

Really depends on how involved you want to get;).
