Toaster Oven Recommendation Wanted

What toaster oven do you really like that you would recommend for a basic camping trailer. I have no oven but could take a couple of meals I could pop in a toaster oven when I have electricity (or want to fire up the 2000w Yamaha). I am hauling a small microwave too.

Personally speaking I prefer toaster oven to microwave. You should take below elements into account before your buying decision.
    • your budgetyour budget
    • space you can afford to the toaster oven
    • how many people will you usually serve by using the toaster oven
    • size (interior)
    • other factors

You can find tens of choice in the local supermarket or online stores. Better do some research and read some reviews from different people.

    I'd recommend
    (1) Around $250, Breville BOV800XL, which has a large footprint
    (2) Around $180, Breville BOV450XL, requires less counter top space
    (3) Around $80, Oster TSSTTVMNDG Digital Large, requires large space
    (4) Under $30, Proctor Silex 31111 and Black&Decker TO1332SBD, do no bad for basic functions in case you don't want to invest much on this.

We liked our Black & Decker Convection Toaster Oven so much, that we also use it in the house.

We use the exact same one, model# TO1675B. Picked it up at wally world for about $40.

    It works very well BUT:
The fan is noisy when in oven mode until it heats up. Once it's hot the fan quiets down.
The thin aluminum tray will warp and pop when heated so be aware of that. It splattered olive oil on the top burner once when it popped while baking fish and started smoking like crazy.
It puts off a lot of heat. I cover the top with oven mitts and pot holders to help keep the heat in the oven as much as I can.
The thermostat is inaccurate. It's a guess at the real temp.

I have cooked many meals in ours including baked fish, pork chops, flat pan meat loaf, biscuits, rolls, cup cakes, frozen TV dinners, pizza, frozen mac&chesse, french fries etc. and am pleased with it once I discovered and addressed its quirks.

If and when this one dies I'll get another one just like it.
  • I have a KitchenAid with convection that I really like but they are so much bigger than they were 10-15 years ago. don't know that it's a good fit for an RV or TT.
  • Hi,

How much space is available? I'd pick one that was tall rather than short.
  • check out Lowe's. last I looked they had quite a lineup of them.
    bumpy
  • I would go to Amazon and read through the review. They generally give you a good idea of what expect, at least one you throw out the one starts because it arrived late or something similar.
