The recipe that specifically calls for the beef broth also has the rice so the broth is actually liquid for the rice. I like to omit the liquid and the rice and put over mashed potatoes. I also swap all the tomato base ingredients for the Italian seasoned tomato sauce. Lots of recipes for this out there calling for tomato soup and that just doesn't sound appealing to me.
