Weber 1520 Go-Anywhere Gas Grill discontinued!

My Weber Go-Anywhere has served me well for the past 10 years. I did have to replace the flavorizer once. I was packing it up and inadvertently broke off the spark ignitor. I thought I should probably buy a new BBQ one that Weber changed the guts. It's output was reduced from 10,000 btu's to 6,500 btu's. the flavorizer grate was replaced and the grill is some sort of stamped junk that flakes off black paint according to the reviews.
I did find the discontinued 1520 at Amazon for $120, twice the original price. Wonder why Weber changed the guts, it wasn't broke. Progress??

  • That grill was discontinued by Weber in 2013 and has been replaced by model 1141001 with a suggested retail of $59.99. I have a hardware store and sell this grill to a lot of RVers and I think it is about the same as the old grill.
  • LS I have been using a lighter the past few trips. Flavorizer is starting to rust again. $35 plus shipping.
  • Do you need the igniter? Can you still light it with a match?
