Weber Q1000 lid removable?

Without unpacking mine I can only guess that those pins can easily be removed. You also may want to try cooking with the lid off. It seems to cook much better when opened. Closed seems to make the food cook too fast on the outside and too slow inside. Try it!

If it like the 100 I have there are 2 pins for the lid hinge. Simply remove the pins and the lid comes off.

I've never used a propane grill, but since (open fire) charcoal grills are not permitted in an increasing number of national forest campgrounds here in CA and in other 'dry' parts of the west, the Weber Q1000 looks like a viable option - if I can find a place to stow it! ;-)

I believe it is a clevis with a keeper pin. At least my Q200 is.

Not Cotter pins but slip pins with keepers on the ends.
The Q100 was also to high by about 1 inch to fit through the slam hatch on my TT so I took the pins out and drilled out the holes just a little over size so it was a good loose fit for the pin to slide in and out.
To stow the Q, I take the lid off put the Q in then put the lid in and on the Q and slip the pins and keepers in place. Reverse to to take out only takes a minute.

I'd avoid buying the electric one. There's a grate above the heating element, but if you want to clean the inside bottom or line the bottom with foil to reflect enough heat to cook something, it requires taking it apart.

Thanks for the 'pin' information; good to know the lid can be removed and replaced without hassle!

And, definitely a 'no' on an electric grill; I almost never camp where there are plugs! :B

Weber has changed the lib on the newest model, it is a lower profile. Suppose less area to heat as well giving more heat for cooking

The beauty of a Weber has always been the high lid which promoted convection or circulating heat. The cheap throw away bbq's with low lids cook like******in part because of the low lids. Hope Weber made the right design decision.

Should you generally just high heat cook on a grill a lack of lid is fine.
