What's Cooking for Thanksgiving

We will be camping in Williamsburg next week. I haven't heard if the campground where we will be staying does a potluck or similar community event so I am planning to do something a little more special than I usually cook when we are out.

I am not cooking turkey, I have a small boneless pork loin that I plan to prepare in my pressure cooker (bringing from home). Then we will have mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, Waldorf Salad, cranberry sauce and rolls. I hope to go to the grocery and pick up a couple of premade salads. I see that Williamsburg still has a Martins.

How do you prepare for holidays when on the road?

I'm with you. Then, too, with no leftovers, I won't be tempted to over indulge later on.
  • We will be home for Thanksgiving this year. We decided to be hermits, we're not inviting anyone over. After the last 3 years of 25 people to feed, all the mess and fuss, we're on our own this year ... just the 2 of us.

We've already placed an order at Bob Evans Restaurant for one of their Thanksgiving Carryout meals. We're picking it up Wednesday night. Thursday, it's all paper plates and plastic forks and Red Solo Cups, microwave everything and give the scraps to the dog! Throw every thing away when done, then go back to the camper and hydrogenate (yea... really) .... the rest of the day. (we're STILL driveway camping every day!)
