Can you tell me know you liked the Yogi campsite in Cherokee? We are going up in Feb and need a good place for our new fifth wheel. We are new at this so paved, level, pull throughout would be great!!!
Thank you, - MerrykaliaExplorer IIWe leave here on Saturday morning (May 31), but hope to see you before then. We will give you the $.10 tour! Glad you liked the Smoky's.
- TheEltonsExplorerThanks Merrykalia for the suggestion. We are currently at the Yogi in the Smokies campground near Cherokee NC. I think we will head to Natural Tunnel SP when we leave here. The Smokey Mtns are beautiful!
- MerrykaliaExplorer III am currently camp hosting at Natural Tunnel SP, VA- right smack-dab in the middle of the Appalachians.
It is beautiful, has lots of trails, swimming pool, history(Wilderness Road), has WIFI and lots of friendly folks.
Come on down. We will occasionally have a tornado, but not often. We have water, electric and a dump station.
On the map, we are located in the far southwestern part of Virginia, the little triangle shaped area next to Kentucky, W Virginia and Tennessee.
I don't know what part of SC you are going to, but we are about 7 hours from Myrtle Beach. - kknowltonExplorer IIAvoiding tornadoes - no place to guarantee that, you just have to hope for the best.
We have enjoyed Wisconsin state parks - nice sites, often wooded, often private, with electric hookups in many sites. Some of our favorite CGs are along/near Lake Michigan or the Mississippi River: Point Beach State Forest, Wyalusing SP, Kohler-Andrae SP, High Cliff SP (on Lake Winnebago.
And talk about agriculture, Wisconsin is a prime candidate. :) Yes, there really are a lot of dairy farms. You might be on the lookout for a "dairy breakfast" in some parts of Wisconsin - local farmers sometimes hold big breakfast cookouts (or cook-ins) in their barns on weekends in late spring/early summer. Not only a good, big breakfast, but things to see & do, like check out an old tractor display, pet calves, watch cows being milked, etc. - TheEltonsExplorerOk, on the drive down we were thinking ND MN WI IL IN eastern KY western VA NC SC. Drive home TN western KY southern IL IA SD ND.
Avoid big cities. Avoid tornados. Scenery, small towns, agriculture, and some history is good.
We are looking to find some new interests as we have been workaholics most of our lives and are looking to change that and try some new things. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
There are literally thousands of places of interest.
Here is my favorite web site to find inexpensive places to stay.
http://freecampsites.net/ - Beverley_KenExplorerIt would help to have a little more info. Route, across Canada north of Lake Superior and south through Niagara or Michigan, or are you going south through the Midwest US and then east.
Interests? Scenery, history, big cities or avoid big cities.
Your leaving tomorrow? If you can, check back while on the road, someone may add more info.
