Looking for south Kern river camp spot near the water

I've never been to the kern river & always heard great stuff about it. & wonder if the drought has affected the water levels? I live in the Los Angeles area & wanted to maybe do a simple over nigh...

We were in Kernville just this last Tuesday. The river is flowing at the bridge pretty good, but no where near normal. There are several campgrounds up the river from Kernville that all are on the river....just pick one that suits you.

Weekends are pretty crowded...
