Need a camp ground recommendation for Big Sur

We have decided to go check out Big Sur since I have never been and my wife was there over 20 years ago. We would prefer a full hook up campground if possible. Any recommendations?

  • We used to go to Big Sur Campground and Cabins every year, until we bought an RV that was too long for the park. They only have W/E but it's a nice campground. The closest RV park that I know of with FHU is in Carmel, Carmel by the River RV Park, never stayed there though.
  • Look into Kirk Creek cg, Los Padres NF - No hook-ups but breath-taking views. Listened to sea otters hunting in the kelp bed at sunset and woke to the sound of seabirds in the morning. Plaskett Creek cg is also nice and less rustic but the views aren't as impressive and ocean further away. Even if you don't camp at Kirk Creek cg, take a moment and visit - there was a little "beater" down to the hidden stretch of beach that was really fun to explore when we were there.
  • Fernwood and Big Sur Camping and Cabins both look nice. We took a drive through them a couple years ago. Fernwood had some nice sites on the river.

We usually camp at Pfeiffer Big Sur SP but they do not have any hook ups.

    Have Fun!
