- RoyFExplorerI like to reach I-40 from Hot Springs by 270 west to 71, 71 north to hwy. 28 at Waldron, hwy 28 west (becoming 128 in Oklahoma) to 59, then 59 north to I-40. This is two lane road, but it's fast except for a few places (watch the posted speeds on curves and in small towns), and the traffic is light.
Taking I-40 all the way (through Little Rock and Fort Smith) is much further, no quicker, and you be in a line of big trucks at all times.
