Fans are the best for when you are sitting just outside the RV.
Thermacell (the personal one) works well. You can place it under your chair or wear it on your belt. Doesn't work well when there is wind.
For those that don't mind putting a repellant on their skin and/or clothes, Deet actualy DOES work very well (contrary to what some others here say.) But it is extremely hard on plastic and can be oily on your skin. I used to do forest inventory in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and my mechanical pencil was pretty much mush by the end of the day, but we used the US Military stuff that was pure Deet. I've found that the dry-spray Cutters or Off with at least 25% deet works pretty good too.
