This just makes no sense to me

Why campgrounds want to charge me extra for my two kids to camp with us. What happened to "family" camping :? I'm sure someone can explain this. We have camped in same campgrounds for a while and didn't camp much last year but getting back into it.
  • Its usually the same way if you stay at hotels. More people use more resources and cost more to the campground. Plus its a money grab that people are willing to pay.
  • We very very rarely stay in campground, but have never seem that.

Hit the dispersed camping in the national forest instead, kids can run around and be kids at no extra cost.
  • Typical of most private campgrounds which is one of many reasons we make every attempt to stay at fed/state/county/city campgrounds wherever we go, unfortunately it's not always feasible.
  • The one place where we go that charges extra for kids is Normandy Farms. But, with all the kids' activities, I really don't mind.
  • I guess they are figuring more water and or electric for the more kids that you might have. Personally I would answer with not going back to that place. Sadly the campground owners will find the place not being used as much, and just wonder why it got so slow all of the sudden.

  • Some "Kids" also bring their own vehicle. It's also extra wear on facilities.
  • Some campgrounds have 2 adults and 2 children as their base price. Some have just 2 adults. I remember one wanting to charge for our 4lb toy chihuahua. Their campground, their rates.
  • 1) helps pay for any damages some kids will do, and 2) gives the campground more money, 3) prevents someone with 10 rowdy kids from camping there. That's my guess...........try state/county/federal campgrounds. If I recall right, they don't charge extra....I'm sure someone might correct me though.

    Happy camping!
