TIRED OF CAMPING

I'm sure that there was a Sheriff dept or state police in the area. I look at this is your own problem for not calling them. Yes they did not want them on the road drunk but the police would have made accommodations for them. Think a little bit.

Thats funny how you came to that assumption I didn't see an age mentioned.

After 15 years of full time RV'ing, in hundreds of parks in almost every state, plus Canada, including Alaska, plus Mexico, I can say from my perspective it is MUCH better then 40 years ago where we couldn't go anywhere without disturbances of the drunk kind.

People are so much more courteous now.

Don't know where you were camped, but as a volunteer camp host at an NFS campground, this would not be tolerated at our campground. The local Sheriff's deputies have no problem at all dragging noisy drunks off for a night/weekend in the Tank. I've not had to summon a LEO in the years I've hosted, but I know of hosts there who have, and it is well known that if a LEO gets the call in the dark of night, somebody's going to wind up in the county slammer.

I have had to ask campers to quiet down come quiet hours on several occasions. The worst was a mom & pop with 6 kids between about 4 and about 12. The kids were 100% running the show, the parents couldn't get their kids to behave AT ALL. Came bed time, and those kids would simply not pipe down. I had to tell dad that they were on the verge of being asked to leave. And no, if asked to leave, you do not gather up your gear, take down your tent, etc. You all pile in the car and LEAVE. Come back tomorrow to gather up your stuff.

However, all the others I've had to ask to quiet down were fine, did so promptly, and were no further trouble. (Knocking on wood)

The host up on the other end of the loop I was in last year had a couple who refused to leash their german shepherd. They were a pain the entire weekend, and filed an official NFS complaint about him when they left. The Area Administrator gave him a medal (sorta) for his attempts to get those folks to control their pooch. They never did "get it."

Most of our camping is at a county campground. Between campground security and the park police any "issues" get squashed pretty quickly. In the six years we've been camping there I've seen one incident of someone drunk in public (quickly paid a visit by park police) and we've never had an issue with loud music or noise during quiet hours.

As for outdoor speakers, I'm in agreement, who really needs them, especially in this day and age when you have 1001 varieties of Bluetooth stereo headsets.

It might help the situation if RV manufacturers would stop installing outdoor speakers, TV's, and kitchens on their products.

Years ago in Maine, 4 footballers came with 6 couples. They all had bikes. They put up a carport, put two tables together, turned on the tunes and got out the beer. I though oh boy. At about 9 PM their rec director gave them there plans for the next day and said to pack it in and let every one have quiet. Sometimes you can be surprised how nice people are. Most every camper I have met or seen have been fine people (a few odd ducks).

Several years ago we had a season like that. Seemed like every time we went out we ran into loud, partying neighbors. I was beginning to think this was what camping had become.
The next year and every year since has been fine though.
