Trash Trash Trash

Kids & I went to Trillium Lake on MT Hood in beautiful Oregon. Forgot it was Memorial Day weekend so very crowded but still fun. Kids & I hiked around the lake Friday. We filled a entire trash bag with fishing line, fast food containers, beer containers etc,. Ended up doing a second loop of the lake Sunday. Filled up two trash bags. This totally confuses me. Folks come to see the beauty and trash it. Just cannot wrap my mind around this. What are folks thinking? Very sad but true

  • Previous posters make a good point. I also observed we have a new wave of citizens to our country with different values. I am not a fan of tax money going for advertising regarding the effects of littering. However, it may be effective. I still remember the ad with the native american and the tear in his eye over trash. Do you? Also I wonder why trash cans are not more available though we did pick up much near a dumpster.
  • X2 on the three day campers possibly from the big city where trash is a way of life.
Kudos to you and yours for cleaning up. If all of the walkers would carry at least a plastic grocery bag with them the world would be a better (cleaner) place.

It depends on how you were raised. I make my kids do a "police call" and pick up the trash around our site before we leave after a weekend trip. I like to leave my site cleaner that what I found it.
