- noe-placeExplorerWe make every trip with our grandson son in mind. We've found that if he has fun then we all do. We always plan what entertainment will be available before each trip whether it's at our destination or games/etc. we play while in camp.
- dewey02Explorer IISPOONS! Great game to play. I first got invited to play this back in the late 1960's when camping with a couple of teenage buddies at Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. The family camping next to us invited us over for dinner (took pity on the three teenagers eating a can of beans) and then introduced us to spoons. Fast action, gotta pay attention, and can sometimes get a bit manic, ...but tons of fun. We. Often break out the spoons when camping or even at home when the now 20 something daughters bring boyfriends over for game night. Never had one new player who didn't like the game once they played it.

Can someone explain "washer toss"? Thanks!
washers clicky
Throw the washers and try to land in the hole. Points for in the hole, closest to the hole, and on the rim. The game originally was played with a coffee can and a sandy pit I believe. - tragusa3ExplorerCan someone explain "washer toss"? Thanks!
- Car_GuyExplorerWe didn't start camping til we were older. Folks are retired farmers. We have gotten the entire family together once a year, every year for the last 13 years. Alot of our activities revolve around eating and then working it off... ;-)
Annual events include a nature hike/canoe ride hosted by my sister. Kayak/canoe tag on the lake in front of our sites. If you can picture 8 to 12 canoes and kayaks chasing each other. We actually draw a cheering crowd from across the lake.
I usually come up with huge grill/deep fried hors' doerves spread before dinner. Ladder ball and then round out the evening with guitar and Mom's 'button box' Concertina singing songs around the fire. Lots of remisching and story telling too. - noe-placeExplorerMy grandson is 12 and he thinks he's grown. But we do a lot of hiking and biking while on rv trips. Also a lot of cultural activities especially museums, living histories, etc.
- tllExplorerMy DD can spend all day making pictures with colored chalk on the campgrounds roads. If it is a private campground, ask it is ok first. It is amazing how many people stop to chat with her, often as kids ride there bikes by they will stop and color too. My DD has made many campground friends this way. She is getting good too!
- SLSAntiguaExplorerIf we are not fishing, we are Kayaking and we have water wars on the Kayaks like 2 warring vessels on the open seas. I have 2 daughters (12 and 15, so me and the 12 Y/o vs wife and 15 y/o and we "broadside" with water guns until empty they try to evade.
Happy hour is washer toss and/or ladder toss.
At night we have a campfire, make s'mores and popcorn. for good kettle popcorn get an "over the campfire popcorn popper" tastes ten time better than Microwave and not too much work. Sister-in-law got me one for Christmas a couple of years ago and is very good. If we make a lot we will usually play poker and the extra popcorn is the ante. Otherwise it is crazy 8's until bedtime.
