Winter at the beach

Next weekend we are headed for Half Moon Bay (northern CA) for 4 days at the beach with 5 other families with TTs. We made reservations several months ago so we could all park next to each other. There are 6 kids from 6 to 9 yrs old and a couple that are a little older. We all are bringing bikes, kites, fishing poles, dogs, and shovels for digging in the sand. Saturday we have an organized scavenger hunt with prizes for the kids. The forecast says no rain but temps in the 50s-60s so it should be chilly but not too cold for having fun. I'm looking forward to grilling oysters, clam chowder, some good wine and a couple Cuban cigars.
This will be our first "winter" trip with the trailer and I'm anxious to hit the road.

    ALL I COULD AFFORD - OMG, is that patches of snow or ice in the sand?? We're spoiled in CA, never gets that cold.

    Yup that's snow. It melts fast, but the day before this picture the kids had a very brief snowball fight on the beach

    Sounds like a fun trip, we are planning to hit up northern Ca beaches this summer.

    We just back from a week-long (Thanksgiving week) trip to a state park a couple of hours from home. There were 3 families and we had 6 kids between 9-12. There was no wifi, so the kids had to find things to do. The day we arrived, the high temp was 42, but on Thanksgiving, it got up to 65. It got down to 17 a couple of nights and it was COLD! The kids had a blast, the adults stayed warm and cozy sitting around a "propane heater" outside (no open burning since we are in extreme drought conditions) and drinking an adult beverage or two, We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and had 25 partake, including our neighbors that we invited over. It was our end of the season trip, so we winterize today....until April.

    We are casually considering spending New Year's Eve on the beach in Wildwood this year. I half jokingly suggested setting up the 19 inch LED TV with antenna and booster box on a table on the beach to watch the ball drop at midnite, and the wife shockingly didn't immediately shoot down my idea.
