Wow- the Guardians of Rescuereally IS flying under the radar
...when do you think they might break the news to the actual folks that live wherever they've set up that they're there???
Sorta fries me that this New York based group has imported a bunch of folks from California and set up camp somewhere in between without so much as a by-your-leave from the locals. All for the purpose of dispersing a bunch of dogs from Forks, Washington...which town was 100% in support of their presence right up until they vanished in the middle of the night!
Quite a public relations stunt- and remarkably effective, if activity on the GOR Facebook and fundraising pages are any indication. ;)
O.K., Pops- yer on the scene with yer pups, and I'm thinkin' their sniffers can sniff out the location of their new neighbors!
Our only clue so far is that the GOR Facebook page sez that they're buying stuff from Lowes. Now, the only Lowes I see along the Arizona/Nevada border are all in the Las Vegas area- nothin' on the Arizona side. I'm betting that those dogs are inside Lowe's typical 25 mile delivery radius of one of those stores....which side of the State line unknown.
Let us know if Team Pops comes up with anything...:@
They are flying under the radar because it is ILLEGAL to transport multiple dogs from shelter to shelter interstate without a dept of ag License and following the LAWS regarding the SAFE interstate transportation of animals.
One call to the Dept of Ag at the onset of this would have put an immediate stop to this. And the phone call should still be made to them. There certainly is enough social media info they themselves posted to convict them.
FORKS — Steve Markwell and 124 dogs from the Olympic Animal Sanctuary will not arrive at their undisclosed destination until early Tuesday because of slow progress in what is a very long drive, said Robert Misseri, president of the Smithtown, N.Y.-based Guardians of Rescue animal shelter.
Markwell departed Forks early Saturday morning
in a truck with a 53-foot trailer loaded with dogs
from the pink warehouse at 1021 Russell Road in Forks.Misseri said Markwell told him the truck’s progress has been slowed because
Markwell is the only driver
and has been stopping to feed and water the dogs, and to take the dogs out of the trailer for breaks. It is noted that the Mayor of the town where these dogs originated is well aware of this and condoned it. Apparently he doesn't have a clue about the law.:R HE should be put in jail for allowing such an illegal act. Just unbelievable this was allowed to happen. :(
