A Dog's Last Will and Testament

A Dog's Last Will and Testament

Before Humans die, they write their last will and testament, give their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I'd ask...

To a poor and lonely stray I would give my happy home; my bowl and cozy bed, soft pillows and all my toys; the lap, which I loved so much; the hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet voice that spoke my name.

I'd will to the sad, scared shelter dog the place I had in my human's heart, of which there seems no bounds.

So, when I die, please do not say, "I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand."

Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope, and give my place to him.

This is the only thing I can give...

The love I left behind.

  • Now that was a great last will and testament!!! That was quite touching.
  • If there's a will,

I want to be in it!

Really that was a touching poem, well worth reading and remembering.

    Fred.
  • Beautiful.
My wife and I have dedicated our married life together, 14 years, to rescuing homeless animals. We only have 4 dogs and 7 cats now. They are all so loved and they return the love.
  • From the title I figured I would tear up a bit, and I was right. My last two dogs were shelter dogs and I hope to adopt more.
  • A very beautiful last will and testament. All our dogs have been strays or shelter dogs and we loved every single one.

Me too. My last dog, Minky, died 2 years ago after a brief but intense illness. He was a sick rescue dog when we got him at 10wks and he lived (and thrived!) with us until he was 11. My DH didn't want another dog for a long time, but I was ready. Thankfully, he gave in, LOL. My DD20 and I went to the local kill-shelter and found this poor little half dead, starved poodle mix with dreadlocks. Two months later, he has wormed his way in to all our hearts, even my DH.

This little doggy has meant so much to me. I have depression and pretty bad arthritis. Tiki is just so loving, all he wants is to be with me. My mood is better, my arthritis is more bearable. I look forward to every day because this little fellow has such a happy outlook.

I love my rescue dogs. They are just so grateful for everything.
