A heartbreaking accident - lost a granddog
Banks was a pretty cool dude of a Catahoula. Babysat the kids and was lord of his 23-acre mini-farm. He was around 12 yrs old, but still could move fast - TOO fast, it turns out. Last night, my stepson was backing up his truck - had made sure all the dogs were out in front of the truck, but somehow, Banks ran behind the truck and was run over. Died in SS's arms.....
SS - a fireman who's seen a lot - is shellshocked. Banks was HIS buddy. We're all sad. We're not sure if Banks slipped on ice, got trapped by a snowbank, or simply assumed the truck would move around him? I post this simply to remind folks that dogs don't regard vehicles as things to be feared :-(
