Ailing cat?

We have a cat that is 13 years old. He likes peeing in the house off and on, usually on blankets or in the dog cage. He does not do this all the time. We do have 4 cats in the house but 5 litter pans in different locations, always cleaned, and in a quiet part of the house. We have noticed he has been throwing up a lot but not hair balls. He does like to eat yet, drinks normally, he looks like skin and bones. I have had him to vets for blood work and other issues and everything is normal. Can this just be old age and him forgetting stuff? I am on the fence and fighting the issue of having him put down, but leaning towards that way. Any other ideas? No new stuff or animals in the house, low stress and the dogs leave the cats alone.

    I hope your cat gets better, At that age it could be a lot of things
    and hopefully a good vet will figure it out and tell you what is best for the cat.

    My cat was diabetic, had to put him to sleep at 15. It appeared he drank normally but he did urinate on the floor occasionally. Some days were good for him and some days were not.

    His blood work showed the disease, I am sure your cat's blood work showed it negative?

    Hope your cat does better, it is hard to lose a pet you love.

    Since none of us are vets, we can only speculate. Going by the symptoms you describe and your cats age kidney failure and g.i. lymphoma should probably be considerations.

    As a side note, have a good friend whose cat was diagnosed and treated with low grade gi lymphoma over 4 years ago, still doing great and in remission.

    I will be calling them to get him in soon and see what there thought is. Thanks everyone for the info.

    With all the litter pans I suspect it's more a dominance issue. He may be marking areas to claim that this is his domain. He may be telling the dog and whoever is using the blankets that this is his property so to speak.

    Did they test urine for uti? Bladder stones and kidney failure are also two things that come to mind.

    I have had Clover since he was 3 months old and he always was just my cat. Lately he has been friendly with other family members, but still prefers me, that is why this is so hard.
