I just read an article that says a typical adult dog has the mental ability of a two year old human, and can recognize up to 150 words. I found that pretty amazing.
Before we lost our last pup, he knew it was Sunday morning because I'd sleep in later than normal. As soon as I got up, he'd run to the door and wait for me to get my keys so we could head out and purchase the morning paper.
They are much smarter than many folks believe.
