Another cat crused in slideout.. :(

How could these people not know? It's mentioned on all the RV Forums, pet owners warn each other in the CGs.... Yet here is yet another case of a cat losing it's life in an RV slideout. What would make these people think the kitty would stay on the bed when the RV was moved? They didn't bother to check BEFORE they moved the slide. Heart breaking.

Our 4 kitties go in their carriers and into the tow vehicle before we bring the slideout in, in our travel-trailer. And before the cats are brought in, they wait in their carriers until the slideout is already out.

  • "Canine Kids" go in the truck. THEN AND ONLY THEN the slide gets moved...in or out!

Before we even got the cats we were warned about pets and slideouts. Our first RV was an Dodge Xplorer with no slideout - we had no pets at the time but never forgot the warning. We also saw warnings on these RV forums. So when we got the cats and ended up with a TT with a slide, it never crossed our minds to move the slide when the cats were in the TT. I think it may have been this forum where I read about a cat getting killed in a slide and the women refusing to go camping in that RV again. Very sad... :'(

When we were considering class B's, I refused to look at any with a slide. Yep, they do exist. I worried about pets and also leaks, tweaks and mechanical problems. If I want extra room, I just stay home.

  • Everybody makes mistakes! Also, it can happen to small dogs and we always watch and position the big dogs to make sure a paw or tail does not get hurt.

I'm sure these folks are heart broken just as bad as us hearing about it...

    Very tragic loss...

We all love our pets so much...
