We had a cat that needed Thyroid medication. He would not take them. Tried Hamburger, Pill Pockets, cheese etc. Pill was too small for a pill gun.
Finally we tried crushing the pill (using the back of a spoon, in a small Ramikin and mixing with water. That worked for a while, then we decided to try milk. THAT worked. Except for the fact that cats don't tolerate cow milk very well. Things got ... odoriferous to say the least.
Then we tried Lactose Free milk. That was the ticket! He lasted 7.5 years. Vet said (when we first started the treatment) he'll last 1.5 maybe 2 years at MOST.
After 4 years, we were amazed and kept the treatments going to see how long he'd last and what his quality of life was. He passed about 2 years after his "Little Buddy" passed from Cancer.
