Proin comes in a chewable form, try that if you have not done so. Proin is not a hormone, it is phenylpropanolamine (PPA) an ingredient in some sinus medications. It has become a controlled substance as it can be used as a precursor to meth.
There are a couple of other choices, a new medication (Incurin) is available and the "old" standard DES (many newer vets don't like or won't use this) is usually given at a very low dose one or twice a WEEK and has very low incidence of side effects if given properly.
