Best Teeth Treat

Are Greenies the best teeth cleaning treat or are there the same or better at a lower cost.
  • Hearing Dog Raylene gets Dentastix, one a day. I get them at Costco.
  • Our dogs like raw lamb riblets, but it's not a good inside treat.

The signal greatest benefit we saw during our trial of raw diets was the drastic improvement in how clean teeth got from chewing up small raw bones.
  • My dogs love Greenies and I can get them for 1/2 the price on Amazon as opposed to the SB outlets.
  • When Maggie was 4 Vet said she needed her teeth cleaned.

We went camping that week and while standing out in the bushes brushing our teeth I jokingly started brushing her teeth AND she liked it.
So from then on I brushed her teeth every night with doggie tooth paste and brush.

Next check up Vet looked at her teeth and asked what we had been doing.....no cleaning needed.

For the next ten yrs. I brushed her teeth routinely. She never needed any cleanings, great teeth, healthy gums and had 'minty' fresh breath :B

Get a doggie tooth brush and toothpaste (don't use human toothpaste...not good for them) and brush

Calvin doesn't know it, but he does work for his keep. So it all kind of balances out. Well, that's what I tell myself anyways.

  • Don'y know what Greenies cost, but Calvin gets a Dentastix after his meals, and a Jumbone for a snack.

  • DentaStix work great I've heard about a lot of choking issues with the Greenies, but that can happen with any treat.
  • Our guys love the Greenies, and they get one right after their first walk of the day. Problem is the eat them fast, and there isn't a whole lot of time to clean the teeth. The really like the Himalaya Dog Chews for some variety, and last a long time. When they get too small, you cook them in the microwave for a few minutes, and they puff up into a soft treat.

Here is a good review of various chews : Dog Chew Comparison.
  • Petco sells a rope that does wonders. Max has had a large rope since day one and at 5 years old his teeth still look perfect.
